In this story, Tenali Ramakrishna gets his garden watered for free — by turning the thieves' own greed against them! Three thieves — clever Veeranna, naive Pothu, and fearful Tikka — came at night to steal from Tenali. But Tenali was already prepared. With a box of stones, a well, and a brilliant performance — the thieves ended up watering his garden all night!

తెనాలి నేల మీద కూర్చుని పెద్ద పెట్టెలో రాళ్ళు నింపుతున్నాడు. శారద వచ్చి చూసింది.
Tenali sat on the floor filling a large chest with stones. Sharada came and watched, puzzled.

అర్థరాత్రి. మూడు నీడలు గోడ వైపు వచ్చాయి.
Midnight. Three shadows crept toward the compound wall.
వీరన్న లోపలికి దూకాడు. పోతురాజు తప్పు వైపు దూకాడు — బయటకే పడ్డాడు!
Veeranna jumped inside. Pothu jumped the wrong way — and landed right back outside!

The three thieves ran to the well.
తిక్కన్న బావిలోకి చూశాడు — దెయ్యం కనిపించింది! పరిగెత్తాడు!
Tikka peered into the well — he saw a ghost (his own reflection)! He ran!
వీరన్న బావిలో దిగాడు — తడిసి వచ్చాడు.
Veeranna climbed down himself — and came back up soaking wet.
నీళ్ళు తోడడం — తోటకు నీళ్ళు పోశారు!

"ఒకడు నీళ్ళు తోడుతున్నాడు… ఒకడు జారిపడుతున్నాడు… మరొకడు దెయ్యాలు వస్తున్నాయేమో అని వెనక్కి చూస్తున్నాడు!"

At dawn, Tenali opened his door. Three thieves outside — exhausted, soaked, covered in mud. Soldiers had surrounded them.

Without spending a single paisa or calling soldiers immediately, Tenali made the thieves do his own work. In many situations in life, an enemy's weakness becomes your greatest weapon. The clever person doesn't fight directly — they turn the situation in their favour.
