Chanakya's Verdict — Watch Deeds, Not Words
Know a friend not by sweet words, but by the hands that come to help in hard times.

Know a friend not by sweet words, but by the hands that come to help in hard times.
Don't share your secrets and accounts with everyone. One who praises you to your face and digs pits behind your back is 'poison in a pot of milk'; one who speaks harshly but shows up in hard times is a true friend.

Judge a friend not by sweet words but by who helps you in hard times.
One who speaks sweetly to your face but ruins your work behind your back is like a pot with milk on top and poison inside — keep him away (Chanakya Niti 2.5).
