ఒక పెద్ద మర్రి చెట్టు కింద… మట్టి కుండ అక్క, రాగి బిందె చెల్లి పక్కపక్కనే ఉండేవి. ప్రతి రోజు రాగి బిందె తన మెరుపు చూసుకుని అక్కను ఎగతాళి చేసేది.
Under a great banyan tree… clay pot (Akka) and copper pot (Chelli) sat side by side every day. Every day the copper pot would mock her sister, showing off her shine.

అక్కా! నన్ను చూడు… నేను ఎంత అందంగా మెరుస్తున్నానో! ఇంటికి వచ్చినవాళ్లు ముందుగా నన్నే చూస్తారు. నువ్వైతే సాధారణ మట్టి కుండ మాత్రమే!

చెల్లీ… మెరుపు చూసుకుని గర్వపడకు. కాలం వచ్చినప్పుడు ఎవరి విలువ ఏంటో తెలుస్తుంది.
Chelli… don't be proud of your shine. When the right time comes, everyone's true worth will be known.
కానీ రాగి బిందె ఆ మాటలను పట్టించుకోలేదు.

వేసవి వచ్చింది — రాగి బిందె ఎండలో వేడెక్కి పోయింది!

రోజులు గడిచాయి… వేసవి వచ్చింది. ఎండలు భరించలేనంతగా మండుతున్నాయి. ఒక రోజు పొలంలో పని చేసిన రైతులు దాహంతో అక్కడికి వచ్చారు.
Days passed… summer arrived. The sun blazed unbearably. One day, farmers who had been working in the fields came there, parched with thirst.
ఎండ వేడికి రాగి బిందె బాగా వేడెక్కిపోయింది. దాన్ని ముట్టుకోవడానికే ఎవరూ ధైర్యం చేయలేకపోయారు.
The copper pot had become scorching hot in the summer heat. Nobody even dared to touch it.

అప్పుడు అందరి చూపు మట్టి కుండ వైపు తిరిగింది… బయటకి మట్టిలా కనిపించినా… తన ఒడిలోని నీళ్లను మాత్రం చల్లగా ఉంచింది.
Then everyone's eyes turned toward the clay pot… though it looked plain on the outside… it had kept the water inside cool and refreshing.

ఆ మాటలు విన్న రాగి బిందె తల వంచుకుంది. అప్పుడు దానికి అర్థమైంది… తన మెరుపు అందరినీ ఆకర్షించొచ్చు. కానీ మట్టి కుండ మాత్రం నిజంగా అందరికీ ఉపయోగపడుతోంది.
Hearing those words, the copper pot bowed her head. Then it understood… her shine may attract everyone. But the clay pot was truly being useful to everyone.

అక్కా… నువ్వు మట్టివి అని నవ్వాను. కానీ ఆ మట్టే నిజమైన బంగారం అని ఈరోజు తెలిసింది. అందంగా కనిపించడం గొప్ప కాదు. ఇతరులకు ఉపయోగపడడమే నిజమైన గొప్పతనం.
Akka… I laughed calling you clay. But today I learned that clay itself is the real gold. Looking beautiful is not greatness. Being useful to others is the true greatness.
