Once, separated from his soldiers and lost in a dense forest, the King saw a young man standing calmly beside the road.

Hearing that clever reasoning, the King was thoroughly impressed.

So saying, the King removed his signet ring and placed it in Mahesh Das's hand.

ఉంగరం చేతబట్టుకుని మహేష్ దాస్ రాజభవన ద్వారం వద్దకు చేరుకున్నాడు. కానీ లోపలికి వెళ్లే ముందు ద్వారపాలకుడు అతన్ని ఆపాడు.
Ring in hand, Mahesh Das arrived at the palace gate. But before he could enter, the gatekeeper stopped him.

The moment he saw Mahesh Das, the King recognized him at once.

The whole court was stunned. Yet Mahesh Das nodded calmly. At the King's signal, a soldier stepped forward, whip in hand.

మొదటి దెబ్బ పడేముందు మహేష్ దాస్ ఆపమని పిలిచాడు.
Just before the first lash, Mahesh Das called out to stop.

Confused, the King ordered the gatekeeper brought in. He entered the court nervously.

And so, this famous folk tale tells how a clever young man named Mahesh Das became Birbal in Akbar's court.
